Nathan Fillion character cast in Castle's Firefly episode
In the upcoming season of the ABC drama, the mystery writer heads off to a Comic-Con-style fan convention. There he meets the former star of a sci-fi cult-favorite TV show whose career and personal life has gone down the tubes since the show was cancelled. That character, Captain Max Richards will be played by Eureka actor Ed Quinn.
Meanwhile, we’re told you can expect plenty of
Firefly winks in the hour, just as you might expect. Between the fan convention setting and the washed-up sci-fi actor character, there’s plenty of opportunity for Castle to have some fun with this setup.
We actually were going to do a downloadable L4D2 expansion pack, where you’d fight in the Cabin world, but then MGM went bankrupt so the delay squashed it. But the people at Valve were still cool enough to let us use some of their monsters to fill the cubes in the background (I had a lot of cubes to fill.)
By the way — the game was gonna be amazing. You were gonna be able to play in both the upstairs “Cabin in the Woods” world and the downstairs “facility” world with all the monsters. Believe me, I HATE all video games based on movies, they always suck, but porting Cabin into Left For Dead felt like the right fit. It pains me that it didn’t happen.
Excerpt from the Jane Espenson penned story “Again, Sunnydale, California, 1999” from Tales of the Slayer, Volume 2 (2003).
Buffy, Xander and Willow travel back in time from 2001 to 1999 and in this scene, Season 6 Buffy tells Season 3 Giles why she doesn’t want to go back.
“Here’s my life, Giles. My lovely, miraculous life. First, Angel leaves me. Then I meet a new man, Riley. But he leaves me too. Oh, and I get a little sister, did they tell you about that one? I get the little sister I’ve always had but who never existed. And then my mother dies.”
Giles took another step backward and steadied himself with a hand against the wall. Joyce was going to die?
“That’s right, Watcher. She dies. A brain tumor. It’s probably in there now, cooking away.”
“Buffy, please, don’t go on. I can’t -“
“Can’t what? Can’t hear it or can’t take it? Because it’s not over. We’re not even at the part where I die again to save the world. But I go to heaven, until Willow brings me back, pulls me out of paradise. Then you leave forever, which, by the way, thanks oh so much in advance. And I’m so alone, Giles. You can’t imagine how alone I am. I’m so alone I’m having sex with Spike just because it’s the only way I can feel anything.”
