When I got my first car when I graduated High School, I figured, every car needs a name. Being the huge Whedon fan that I am, I named her Serenity. Because as Mal said: “Ship like this, be with you ‘til the day you die.” Luckily that wasn’t the case. This morning as my roommate and I were driving home to Florida to visit our parents, Serenity proved what an amazing car she was. We walked out of this, for the most part, unscathed. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for Serenity.
As we were driving, I hit a puddle a hydroplaned. I managed to regain control of my car only to have my back wheels hit another puddle and fishtail off the road. The shoulder was a steep embankment that we rolled and slid down, slid into a tree, and then somehow, landed miraculously between two trees with inches between my door and the tree and the passenger side and the tree.
Watching them tow my baby to a dump was the so upsetting. Serenity and I had gone through so much together. Stay shiny Serenity, thanks for saving my life.
